Crabgrass

The presence of some crabgrass in your lawn can be tolerated, but unfortunately, if your lawn is in poor condition, crabgrass can overtake the entire surface. The thousands of seeds present in the soil will germinate, given the right conditions. The best protection against an invasion of crabgrass is a thick and healthy lawn that is kept at a height of no less than 3 inches.

Control

The best plan of action is to apply a preemergent herbicide, which is a plant-specific product that attacks the plant before it matures. This will protect your lawn for the entire season, by neutralizing the germination that is already in progress.
